Søren Waerenskjold of Team Uno-X Mobility has emerged victorious in the 2025 Deutschland Tour, securing the overall title after a tightly contested final stage. The concluding leg, stretching from Halle (Saale) to Magdeburg, saw Waerenskjold finish second, a performance sufficient to defend his slender lead in the general classification. Stage honours on the day went to Matthew Brennan of Team Visma / Lease a Bike.
Waerenskjold began the final stage with a mere ten-second advantage over Jhonatan Narváez (UAE Team Emirates) and a fifteen-second buffer to Riley Sheehan (Israel – Premier Tech), margins he successfully managed throughout the challenging course. Alongside the overall competition, Enzo Leijnse (Team Picnic PostNL) claimed the mountains classification, while the sprint classification was also secured by overall winner Waerenskjold.
The Deutschland Tour witnessed a notable performance from rising German cycling talent Florian Lipowitz, recently celebrated for his podium finish at the Tour de France. However, the predominantly flat terrain of the four stages favoured sprinters and did not allow Lipowitz to contend for the overall title. Following an incident on Friday in which he collided with a utility pole, Lipowitz will likely consider simply completing the race in Magdeburg a positive outcome.
