Economic expert Veronika Grimm has called upon the federal government to maintain its social reforms following the state election in Saxony-Anhalt. According to Grimm, the failure to implement “effective reforms” is causing an increasing number of voters-who could otherwise be reached by established parties-to switch allegiance to the AfD.
Grimm argues that for a significant segment of the electorate, the perception has developed that the “democratic mainstream” is permanently incapable of delivering the “necessary reforms.” She asserts that the greatest threat to political centrism is not the attempt to introduce “too many reforms,” but rather the continuous postponement of crucial changes driven by the fear of losing votes.
The expert suggests that the strategy for winning back politically attainable AfD voters is not by warning them about the AfD itself, but solely through providing credible solutions to persistent problems. Grimm further urges entrepreneurs and business leaders to increase their influence in demanding “consistent structural reforms” from democratic parties.
Grimm’s analysis indicates that some voters do not support the AfD because they trust its economic platform. Instead, they are betting on “disruption” because they no longer believe the established political center possesses the capacity for reform. She characterizes this decision as a high-stakes gamble with an uncertain outcome.
